Professor Edward Wastnidge Leads Research Seminar for Postgraduate Students at KazNU
The Department of International Relations and World Economy at Kazakh National University hosted a special research seminar on April 29 for master’s and doctoral students, led by Professor Edward Wastnidge of The Open University, United Kingdom.
The seminar, titled “Theory, Methods, and Scoping the Literature: Postgraduate study and preparing for publication”, focused on the essential stages of academic research and publication. Professor Wastnidge addressed the role of theory and methodology in postgraduate studies, the importance of a well structured literature review, and the practical steps involved in preparing research for publication.
During the session, participants discussed how to formulate a strong research question, select an appropriate methodological approach, organize academic sources, and develop a coherent article structure. Particular attention was given to academic writing standards and publication strategies for researchers seeking to engage with the international scholarly community.
The event provided master’s and doctoral students with an opportunity to receive practical guidance, ask questions, and reflect on the challenges of dissertation writing and academic publishing.
Research seminars of this kind play an important role in strengthening international academic cooperation, supporting young researchers, and enhancing professional competencies in the fields of international relations and world economy.
