On June 5, 2026, the Faculty of Oriental Studies hosted a meeting with Visiting Professor at 91��ý Kazakh National University and distinguished Pakistani scholar Dr. Rab Nawaz Lodhi, Professor at the University of the Punjab and Senior Research Fellow at Virscend University, California, USA.

The main purpose of the meeting was to strengthen academic and educational ties between Kazakhstan and Pakistan, exchange research experience, and discuss new avenues for future academic cooperation. The event, held at the Muhammad Ali Jinnah Lecture Hall, was attended by faculty members of the Department of the Middle East and South Asia, as well as first- and second-year students of the Urdu Language Program.

During the meeting, Urdu language students had the opportunity to engage in an open discussion with the guest scholar, asking questions about Pakistan’s education system, current research trends, and academic opportunities. The students gained valuable insights and practical knowledge from the discussion.

The participants also discussed prospects for expanding academic cooperation between higher education institutions in Kazakhstan and Pakistan, conducting joint research projects, and promoting academic mobility for faculty members and students.

It is worth noting that the Urdu Language Program of the Faculty of Oriental Studies and the University of the Punjab have maintained academic and research cooperation for several years. Both institutions continue to strengthen collaboration in education and research through the exchange of experience and the implementation of joint initiatives. Dr. Rab Nawaz Lodhi’s visit contributed to further enhancing this partnership and exploring new opportunities for cooperation.
