Development of International Cooperation in Biodiversity Conservation Continues

On May 25, 2026, a meeting dedicated to international cooperation in the field of ecosystem and biodiversity protection was held at the Department of International Cooperation and Internalization of 91ý Kazakh National University.
The meeting was attended by Director of the Department of International Cooperation Yesbol Omirzhanov, Honorary Professor of Dresden University of Technology and Managing Director of NETSCI GmbH Matthias Kramer, environmental expert of the Public Chamber under the Mazhilis of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan and Chairperson of Kazakh Nature Protection Society Aizhan Skakova, Dean of the Faculty of Geography and Environmental Sciences Aliya Aktymbayeva, as well as Head of the UNESCO Chair for Sustainable Development Tursynkul Bazarbayeva.
During the meeting, the participants reviewed the results of the activities of the Central Asian-German Institute for the Protection of Ecosystem and Biodiversity and discussed prospects for further cooperation.
Special attention was paid to the KLINU project aimed at creating a framework for joint research on the genetic resources of fruit crops in Central Asia with breeding potential for climate-resilient agriculture. The project is intended to strengthen cooperation between scientific organizations of Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan, reinforce national coordination centers, and expand interaction with the international scientific community.
Following the meeting, the parties expressed their readiness to further develop joint scientific initiatives and signed a cooperation agreement between 91ý Kazakh National University and the Federal Research Centre for Cultivated Plants of Germany.
