International Professional Development Course on Digital Platforms and Sustainable Development

From May 18 to May 30, 2026, the Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation of the Department of Economics at the Higher School of Economics and Business of 91ý Kazakh National University successfully conducted a professional development course entitled “Digital Platforms and Sustainable Development: Integrating the SDGs into Education and Science.”

The program was developed and led by Saule Kopeshevna Esengaziyeva, Candidate of Economic Sciences and Associate Professor of the Department of Economics. The course was aimed at developing modern competencies in the use of digital platforms for achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), as well as enhancing skills for integrating sustainable development principles into educational and research activities.

The program addressed current issues related to the digital transformation of education and science, the application of digital educational platforms, the use of artificial intelligence and data analytics in the educational process, and international experience in implementing the SDGs through modern digital technologies. Special attention was given to the development of digital competencies, the design of educational content focused on achieving the Sustainable Development Goals, and the introduction of innovative approaches to training specialists for the digital economy.

The participants of the course included faculty members from the Samarkand Institute of Economics and Service (Republic of Uzbekistan): Sattarova Z.I., Shadieva G.M., Artikov Z.S., Ruzieva N.B., Mirzaeva Sh.N., Erdonov M.E., Shermatov A.A., Fozilov V.A., Berdikulova I.R., and Musinov D.S.

The implementation of this educational program contributed to the expansion of international academic and scientific cooperation, the exchange of best practices in digitalization and sustainable development, and the creation of conditions for the further integration of modern educational approaches into the activities of universities across Central Asia. The course served as an effective platform for professional dialogue, knowledge transfer, and the strengthening of interuniversity relations between representatives of the academic communities of Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan.

The course contributes to strengthening international academic cooperation, developing digital competencies, and introducing innovative technologies into educational and research activities, while also preparing specialists capable of effectively addressing sustainable development challenges.
