The 2026 academic year at the Faculty of Journalism is coming to an end.
The 2025–2026 academic year at the Faculty of Journalism was marked by numerous significant events. The faculty summarized its academic and teaching achievements, announced the indicative performance ranking of the teaching staff, and successfully completed the defense of master's theses and bachelor's graduation projects by students from Kazakhstan, as well as international students from China, Afghanistan, and Bangladesh.
The graduates presented innovative research projects and final papers that addressed the challenges of the digital era and artificial intelligence. Among the notable topics were "The Impact of Artificial Intelligence on Television, the Internet, and New Media in Kazakhstan" by Damir Kulbayev, "The Development of Folklore in Screen and Online Media" by Guzyal Manbayeva, "Interactive Book Formats in Inclusive Education: Technology Analysis and Development Prospects in Kazakhstan" by Malika Saliyeva, "The Development of Online Sports Journalism" by Yelzhan Bisenbayev, and "The Development of Media Cooperation between China and Kazakhstan in the Socio-Political and Cultural Spheres" by Wang Yazhu. These and many other research projects were successfully defended during the summer of 2026.
The rapid advancement of information technologies and digitalization continues to generate new research topics and challenges, which the younger generation quickly recognizes and reflects in its academic work.
The faculty also hosted a reunion between Dean A.B. Alzhanova and the graduates of the Class of 1977. The alumni, now distinguished journalists and retirees, were delighted to meet their former professors, Doctors of Historical Sciences Sagynbay Kabashevich Kozybayev and Laila Seisenbekovna Akhmetova. Despite nearly fifty years having passed, Professor Kozybayev still remembered each graduate by name. When asked how he managed to remember everyone, he replied: “They were all talented and gifted, and every one of them worked in the field of journalism and mass media.”
During the meeting, the alumni shared memories of their student years, reflected on their professional careers in the media industry, spoke about their contributions to the development of Kazakhstani journalism, and presented the faculty with copies of their published books and poetry collections.
On the eve of Media Workers' Day, celebrated on June 28, a joint meeting of 91ý Kazakh National University and the Academy of Journalism of Kazakhstan was held. The Rector of the university, Zhanseit Kanseitovich Tuimebayev, congratulated leading journalists, media executives, and editors-in-chief on their professional holiday.
Thus, another academic year has come to an end at the Faculty of Journalism. It will be remembered for its talented students, inspiring academic achievements, and remarkable events that brought new experiences and will remain in our memories for many years to come.
