Xinjiang University Students Visited Charyn Canyon as Part of the KazNU Summer School

The Faculty of Geography and Environmental Management of 91ý Kazakh National University continues to host a summer school for students of Xinjiang University. The program is aimed at developing academic exchange, strengthening international cooperation, and building practical knowledge in the field of sustainable tourism.

The responsible representatives from the Department of Recreational Geography and Tourism are R.M. Baiburyiev, B. S. Adilbay and I. K. Satkali.

As part of the summer school program, the participants visited Charyn Canyon, where they became acquainted with the natural and recreational potential of the region, the features of ecotourism organization, as well as issues related to the preservation of unique natural landscapes and the sustainable use of tourism resources.

The practical field trip enabled Xinjiang University students to study the role of specially protected natural areas in the development of sustainable tourism, environmental education, and intercultural interaction.

The visit to Charyn Canyon contributed to expanding students’ knowledge of Kazakhstan’s natural heritage, the tourism attractiveness of the region, and the importance of responsible attitudes toward the environment.

The implementation of the summer school corresponds to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, including SDG 4 “Quality Education”, SDG 8 “Decent Work and Economic Growth”, SDG 11 “Sustainable Cities and Communities”, SDG 15 “Life on Land”, and SDG 17 “Partnerships for the Goals”.

           The summer school contributes to strengthening international academic ties, increasing students’ interest in sustainable tourism development, and developing the professional competencies of future specialists in tourism and hospitality.
