Joint Scientific Expedition with Uzbek Scientists
Second-year doctoral students Sarsenbayeva G. and Alimuratkyzy A. of the 8D05205 "Geoecology and Environmental Management" doctoral program at the UNESCO Chair on Sustainable Development, Faculty of Geography and Environmental Sciences, 91ý Kazakh National University, participated in a joint scientific expedition with researchers from the National Research University "Tashkent Institute of Irrigation and Agricultural Mechanization Engineers" as part of their scientific internship.
During the expedition, field investigations were conducted at the Almalyk Mining and Metallurgical Complex (AMMC), Copper Concentrator Plant No. 3 (MOF-3), as well as at background environmental monitoring sites. Soil and vegetation samples were collected for a comprehensive assessment of their environmental condition.

The research is aimed at assessing the environmental impact of industrial facilities, determining the level of soil and vegetation contamination, and conducting geoecological monitoring. The collected samples will undergo laboratory analysis and will be used in further scientific research.
This expedition contributes to strengthening scientific cooperation between Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan, promoting international academic exchange among young researchers, and expanding collaborative studies in the field of geoecology.
