“Developmental Characteristics of Kazakh Translators and Translation Art”

 On March 19, within the framework of SDG 16, under the supervision of the lecturer of the Department of Kazakh Literature and Literary Theory, Shortanbay Shokan Amangeldyuly, and Doctor of Philological Sciences Gulzhan Bolatova the , first-year doctoral student of the “Literary Studies” major  Saparbay Saltanat conducted a demo  class on the topic: “Developmental Characteristics of Kazakh Translators and Translation Art.”

The main purpose of the event was to familiarize students with the stages of formation of Kazakh translation art, its development paths, and the works of prominent translators, as well as to explain and analyze them through specific examples. Kazakh translation art began to develop intensively from the early 20th century and became an important tool of cultural interaction by bringing world literature into the national language. Especially during the period of independence, translation activities reached a new qualitative level, gaining renewed content and stylistic features.

During this period, Kazakh translators not only translated the best works of world literature into their native language but also adapted them to the national worldview, enriching them artistically. It was emphasized that translation is not only a linguistic process but also serves as a spiritual bridge between cultures. In addition, it was noted that modern translation practices widely employ new methods, advanced technologies, and features of authorial interpretation.

In their opinions, students highlighted that the development of Kazakh translation has directly influenced the growth of national literature, and through the efforts of translators, world literary heritage has become accessible to Kazakh readers. It was also noted that translation not only enriches the language but also expands the artistic horizons of national literature.

The class was conducted in an interactive format, using methods such as question-and-answer sessions, group analysis, text comparison, discussion of translation versions, and identification of translators’ stylistic features.
