Academician Mukhambetkali Burkitbayev analyzed the responsibility of science
A lecture by Doctor of Chemical Sciences, Professor, Honorary Academician Mukhambetkali Burkitbayev on the topic "The Joy of radium" was held at the al-Farabi Kazakh National University.
The event was opened by Margulan Ibraimov, Member of the Board, Vice-Rector for Research and Innovation. Introducing the lecturer, the vice-rector emphasized the scale of his personality.

He noted that Mukhambetkali Myrzabaevich is an outstanding scientist, teacher, Doctor of Chemical Sciences, honorary worker of Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan, whose contribution to the development of Kazakh chemistry is invaluable. He stressed that the professor had prepared a galaxy of talented followers, and under his leadership, 8 PhD and 4 PhD theses were successfully defended. The Vice-rector also focused on the international recognition of the lecturer's achievements, recalling that M. N.Burkitbayev is a laureate of the prestigious NATO Science for Peace Award and the holder of the title "best university teacher".

Revealing the essence of the lecture topic, Professor Mukhambetkali Burkitbayev linked the meaning of the phrase "The Joy of radium" with Olzhas Suleimenov's poem "Earth, bow to man!" "The word "joy" here is a metaphor for tragedy. It points to the consequences of nuclear tests on the territory of Kazakhstan, the high level of radiation and the sad pages of our history, which have become a deep wound on the body of our native land",- the scientist noted.

During the lecture, the professor shared the results of his expeditions to the Semipalatinsk nuclear test site and presented up-to-date data on the current radiation situation in the country. The academician also focused on the prospects for the development of nuclear energy in Kazakhstan, emphasizing the critical importance of training qualified personnel in this strategic industry at the national university.

At the end of the meeting, young scientists and students asked questions about radiation chemistry and environmental safety, to which they received comprehensive answers from the academician.
