72-hour Educational Programs for a Broad Audience within the Framework of SDG 4 – “Quality Education”
On December 1, 2025, A.K. Sambetbayeva, a third-year doctoral student in Information Systems, conducted a training event for students of Gymnasium School No. 159 within the framework of a 72-hour educational program. The topic of the event was “Application of Deep Learning in Road Damage Detection: Fundamentals and Applied Methods.” The event was organized in an offline format. The students were introduced to the importance of artificial intelligence, computer vision, and deep learning methods in solving real-world applied problems.
During the event, the fundamentals of applying deep learning technologies for the automatic detection of road infrastructure damage were discussed. Participants became familiar with the stages of data collection, data preprocessing, neural network architectures, image recognition, as well as model training and evaluation methods. In addition, students were shown examples of the application of artificial intelligence in transport infrastructure, safety systems, smart city projects, and engineering solutions.
This educational event was closely connected with career guidance activities. Students of Gymnasium School No. 159 were provided with information about the Department of Information Systems, as well as the educational programs “Information Systems” and “High-Load Information Systems with Artificial Intelligence.” The students were informed about the features of these specialties, the main disciplines studied during the educational process, practical skills, laboratory work, project-based learning opportunities, and future career prospects in the labor market.
Overall, the 72-hour free external educational programs and career guidance activities organized by the Department of Information Systems contributed to the development of participants’ professional, research, and engineering competencies. In addition, these activities strengthened cooperation between the university, schools, educational organizations, and external partners, and made a concrete contribution to the implementation of SDG 4 – “Quality Education.”
