Path to a future profession: career guidance meeting with school students
On May 15, 2026, a career guidance event for school students was held at the Faculty of Biology and Biotechnology, 91ý Kazakh National University. During the event, the faculty’s academic staff introduced students to the educational programs offered by the faculty. In particular, detailed information was provided on the following educational programs: 6B05101 - Biological Engineering, 6B05103 -Biotechnology (NIS), 6B05107 - Microbiology, 6B05105 -Genetics, 6B05102 - Biology (NIS), 6B05109 -Neuroscience, 6B05108 -Biomedicine, 6B05088 -Applied Biophysics, 6B05102 -Biology, and 6B08402 - Aquaculture and Aquatic Biological Resources.
During the meeting, students were provided with comprehensive information about the current state and future prospects of these academic fields, their scientific and practical significance, innovative achievements in biology and biotechnology, labor market demand, opportunities for international education and academic mobility, as well as future career development prospects. In addition, the students visited the faculty’s teaching and research laboratories, where they had the opportunity to become familiar with modern laboratory equipment, key research направленияs, and the practical activities of the departments. Faculty members emphasized the importance of biological sciences, genetics, biotechnology, biomedicine, neuroscience, microbiology, applied biophysics, zoology, and fisheries in addressing contemporary scientific and societal challenges.
During the event, students had the opportunity to ask questions of interest and receive detailed answers from specialists. Such career guidance activities help increase young people’s interest in biological sciences, support informed decision-making when choosing future academic pathways, and inspire further education and scientific engagement. The event was organized at a high level and became an informative, engaging, and valuable experience for the participating school students.
