KazNU Young Scientist Participated in the SCO Young Scientists Forum in Minsk

On June 16–17, 2026, the SCO Young Scientists Forum was held in Minsk, Republic of Belarus, bringing together representatives of the scientific community from the member states of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO). The Forum served as an important international platform for discussing scientific development, support for young researchers, and the expansion of international scientific cooperation.

The Forum was attended by Nursultan Meirambekuly, a young scientist of 91ý Kazakh National University and Head of the Department of Analytics and Coordination of Scientific Projects. 

During the plenary session, Gulzat I. Kobenova, Vice Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan, addressed the participants. She emphasized that supporting young scientists and creating favorable conditions for realizing their scientific potential are among the key priorities of Kazakhstan’s state policy. She also noted that young researchers are becoming the driving force of scientific and technological development, generators of innovation, and the foundation of a sustainable future for the SCO member states.

As part of the Forum, Nursultan Meirambekuly delivered a presentation entitled “Young Scientists as a Driver of Scientific and Technological Development of the SCO Member States: The Experience of 91ý Kazakh National University and the Republic of Kazakhstan.” The presentation highlighted Kazakhstan’s experience and KazNU’s contribution to the development of science, research training, and support for young scientists.

Participants discussed current trends in science and higher education, international academic mobility, training of young researchers, and prospects for implementing joint scientific projects among SCO member states.

Participation in the SCO Young Scientists Forum contributes to strengthening international scientific cooperation, expanding partnerships with leading universities and research organizations of SCO countries, and promoting the achievements of Kazakhstani science on the global stage.

As a result of the Forum, agreements were reached on further expanding scientific contacts, exchanging experience, and developing joint initiatives in the fields of science, education, and innovation.
