The Process of Publishing Scientific Articles in Scopus-Indexed Journals and Criteria for Selecting Academic Journals
A scientific and methodological seminar entitled “The Process of Publishing Articles in Scopus-Indexed Journals and Criteria for Selecting Scientific Journals” was organized for early-career researchers, master's students, doctoral candidates, and young faculty members of the Department of Geography, Land Management and Cadastre. The main objective of the seminar was to enhance publication skills, develop academic writing competencies, and familiarize participants with modern requirements for publishing research in international scientific journals.
The seminar was conducted by Gulnara Tolegenovna Isanova, PhD, Acting Professor of the Department. Drawing upon her extensive research and publication experience, the speaker provided comprehensive insights into the requirements of international scientific journals, criteria for selecting high-quality publications, and effective strategies for preparing manuscripts for publication in highly ranked journals.

During the seminar, the key stages of scientific article preparation were discussed in detail. Participants learned about selecting a relevant research topic, defining a scientific problem, formulating research objectives, and developing a logical structure for a scientific paper. Particular attention was paid to writing the introduction, demonstrating the relevance and novelty of the research, preparing a comprehensive literature review, describing research methods, presenting and discussing results, and formulating conclusions.
In addition, participants were introduced to modern tools for searching and analyzing scientific literature that can be effectively used in preparing literature reviews. Practical recommendations were provided on working with scientific databases, identifying relevant publications, selecting appropriate references, and organizing scientific information.

The seminar also covered the criteria for selecting international journals indexed in Scopus and other reputable databases. Participants became familiar with journal quality indicators, quartile rankings, the peer-review process, and the key stages involved in manuscript submission and publication.
The seminar was conducted in an interactive format and generated considerable interest among participants. Early-career researchers had the opportunity to discuss practical challenges related to scientific publishing and receive detailed answers to their questions. Such events contribute significantly to the development of research capacity among young scientists, improve the quality of scientific publications, and strengthen participation in the international academic community.
