Faculty of Journalism
Dear friends! Welcome to the Faculty of Journalism. It’s one of the oldest faculties at our University, which has existed since the foundation of the University in 1934. According to research and modern educational programs, this faculty is proud of its name called “Faculty of Journalism”. The Faculty has three departments: Department of Print and Electronic Media, Department of UNESCO, International Journalism and Mass Communication, Department of Publishing, Editing and Design Art. There is also TV and Radio Complex M. Barmankulova, one of the important subdivisions of the Faculty, with student channel “al-Farabi”, radio “al-Farabi” and photo lab “Photojournalism”.

The program is aimed at forming the qualifications of a specialist necessary for the editorial preparation, release and distribution of a printed or digital publishing product based on modern technologies.
The educational program is aimed at training a specialist designer who is able to solve creative tasks in the field of modern media (media, book industry, advertising, marketing), who has the skills to work with design and content, and who owns the latest technologies of practical design.
The educational program is aimed at professional training of a specialist capable of creating multimedia media publications, corporate identity, creative design, designing advertising materials, websites, mastering the methods and techniques of computer visualization of a media project, the intricacies of 2D and 3D modeling, creating animation, videos and video presentations, using the laws of graphic composition, computer design programs in creative activities.

The aim of the proposed educational programme is to train highly qualified specialists capable of professionally reporting on topical contemporary issues. As a result of the training, graduates will be able to professionally and competently cover world events and phenomena, create multimedia content for international projects, and give an objective and accurate assessment of what is happening.
The formation of students' competencies for working as a public relations specialist after completing the educational program; getting the ability of performing professional functions on the basis of understanding the advanced achievements of public relations (PR) and communications; the formation of the ability to use classical and digital PR tools, and the skills to implement PR projects in Kazakhstan and abroad.

The purpose of the educational program. The purpose of the educational program Film and Television Directing is to train highly qualified and competent specialists in the field of audiovisual media who are able to study the scientific foundations of creating audiovisual works that meet the requirements of the digital environment and design a unique trajectory in the field of knowledge economy, culture and digital media.
The goal of the educational program “Data Journalism” is the high-quality training of highly qualified mass media personnel in the field of analysis and visualization of big data, possessing digital technology skills and the basics of artificial intelligence for journalism. The implementation of the educational program is aimed at developing the professional personality of a specialist who is able to independently carry out scientific research in the field of data journalism; integrate knowledge at the intersection of the sciences of information technology and mass communication in the context of one’s own scientific research; build your own program of further education and research activities in computational linguistics, data visualization and infographics.
The goal of the educational program is high-quality training of professional personnel for the scientific and educational sphere of higher educational institutions, capable of critically assessing and interpreting the latest achievements in the theory and practice of journalism; develop and apply new ideas to systems of information within the contexts under study; solve professional and other problems in new and unfamiliar contexts; bear social and ethical responsibility for the results of professional and scientific activities.

The purpose of the educational program "Business Communications" is the qualitative training of highly qualified personnel in the field of business communications, who possess the skills of information technology, innovative engineering, social modernization of the media structure, integrated digital services.
The goal of the Media Communications educational program is to prepare qualified media managers who apply management skills to address key issues affecting the global communications industry, focusing on issues related to the emergence of digital media, globalization, and increased levels of intercultural exchange. Graduates who have mastered the program can carry out professional activities in the field of higher education, solving advertising and information, organizational and managerial, design, analytical and editorial tasks. The objects of professional activity of program graduates are media projects and media products. The program is aimed at developing the ability to process information flows, focusing on the agenda that is relevant for the organization or company, taking into account the factor of media consumers.
The program is aimed at training media specialists with the necessary skills and competencies to work in an ethno-cultural environment, capable of professional coverage and scientific analysis of ethnic issues in the domestic media sector in the context of maintaining a dialogue of cultures and preserving intercultural diversity in the ethnosphere of Kazakhstan.

The aim of the educational program is to provide high-quality training for professional personnel in the scientific and educational fields of higher education institutions, capable of: constructing a system of knowledge in the studied area as a scientific-theoretical and methodological foundation for a dissertation; designing and implementing a comprehensive research process aimed at achieving reliable and substantiated results; demonstrating a high level of independence, scientific or professional integrity, and a strong commitment to new ideas and technologies; developing scientific, cultural, social, pedagogical, creative, advertising, and media projects that have scientific and social value; effectively presenting and defending their own scientific opinions in scientific discussions, using the working language of these discussions.
The aim of the educational program is to provide high-quality training for highly qualified professionals in the media industry and mass communication, capable of: researching the phenomenon of media and the entire range of communication tools, using various methods to analyze media companies and projects; developing and implementing strategies for monetizing media projects; working in a modern cross-media and transmedia environment, professionally combining journalistic, managerial, production, technical, and technological skills.
Preparation of competitive and potential development doctors of philosophy (PhD) in the field of international journalism, capable of finding solutions in communication and related industries, to lead international media projects and teaching practice. Doctors of Philosophy (PhD) at the end of the EP can work as heads of structures on international media, international foundations and corporations, in the civil service, researchers in research institutes, teachers in the universities.
Preparation of competitive and having development potential PhDs in the field of public relations, capable of conducting industry research, defending their own scientific views, teaching at a university, managing PR structures for the comprehensive development of the communications market, determined by the needs of the state and society.
