International Lecture within the Framework of Science Week: Uzbek Scholars Delivered a Lecture to KazNU Students
Today, at 91ý Kazakh National University, an important scientific meeting was held, organized by the Department of Religious Studies and Cultural Studies of the Faculty of Philosophy and Political Science. The event welcomed prominent scholars from Uzbekistan — Professor of the Bukhara State Medical Institute, Doctor of Philosophy Kurban Shadmanov, and Head of the Department of the Bukhara Engineering and Technology Institute, Doctor of Philosophy Erkin Zoirov. The scholars delivered an informative lecture to 3rd-year students of the educational program “6B02202 – Islamic Studies.”
A distinctive feature of the meeting was that it took place within the framework of the traditional Science Week, held at the university from March 30 to April 11. Science Week aims to enhance the potential of young researchers, popularize science, and strengthen international academic cooperation. The participation of foreign scholars added significant value to the event and inspired both students and young researchers.
The lecture was attended by members of the department’s academic community, including research professor Kakymzhan Bishmanov, acting professor Mira Baltymova, as well as master’s and doctoral students, and young lecturers. The created academic environment encouraged open dialogue, active questioning, and the exchange of experiences.
The scholars presented detailed material on the formation of philosophical schools in Islam, their main directions, historical development, and contribution to Eastern civilization. Particular attention was given to such areas as kalam, Sufi philosophy, and Illuminationism. This information broadened students’ academic horizons and allowed them to gain a deeper understanding of the complex aspects of Islamic philosophical thought.
At the end of the lecture, participants actively asked questions and discussed various relevant topics. Professors Shadmanov and Zoirov provided comprehensive responses and shared the latest research trends in the field of Islamic studies.
Such international meetings not only inspire students but also strengthen their interest in scientific research. The close relationship between science and education, along with open dialogue between faculty members and students, plays an important role in shaping future professionals. This event, held as part of Science Week, clearly demonstrated this.
Moreover, the meeting highlighted the growing academic cooperation between Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan. Joint discussions and the exchange of experiences open new opportunities for studying Turkic-Muslim civilization. Such collaborations foster the development of joint projects, publications, and academic mobility.
For students, the lecture provided a valuable opportunity to deepen theoretical knowledge, gain exposure to international expertise, and determine their own research interests. The information they received will assist them in writing academic papers, course works, and graduation projects. Topics such as the connection between Islamic philosophy and global processes, the relationship between religion and science, and the importance of spiritual values in modern society were also addressed, positively influencing students’ scientific worldview. The event became an additional incentive for the development of their academic culture.
Furthermore, students' participation in such academic meetings contributes to the development of their analytical thinking, expands their professional interests, and strengthens their motivation for further academic achievements. This helps cultivate a lasting interest in scientific research.
