Healthy Lifestyle — The Foundation of Well-Being (Within the framework of SDG 3: “Good Health and Well-Being”)
As part of the implementation of Sustainable Development Goal No. 3 “Good Health and Well-Being,” a curatorial session was held with first-year students of the Accounting and Auditing program under the guidance of Curator-Advisor O. Yu. Kogut, PhD.
The purpose of the event was to develop students’ conscious attitude toward their health and to help them understand that lifestyle largely determines a person’s overall well-being. During the session, it was emphasized that health is not only the absence of disease but also a harmonious combination of physical, psychological, and social well-being.
Participants discussed that a healthy lifestyle is formed through everyday habits, which may seem insignificant but have a significant long-term impact on quality of life. Regularity and consistency of actions play a key role, and it is possible to start with simple steps accessible to every student.
Special attention was paid to proper nutrition. Students reviewed the main principles of a balanced diet: adequate consumption of vegetables and fruits, inclusion of whole grains, reducing sugar intake, and avoiding excessive fast food. It was emphasized that nutrition directly affects energy levels, concentration, and overall well-being.
Physical activity was another important topic. It was noted that regular movement helps maintain heart health, strengthens muscles, and improves emotional state. Even moderate activity, such as daily walking, morning exercises, or sports a few times a week, contributes to higher productivity and lower stress levels.
A separate focus was on sleep and rest routines. Quality sleep is essential for body recovery, memory improvement, and concentration. Students discussed the importance of maintaining a daily schedule, reducing gadget usage before bedtime, and creating a comfortable environment for proper rest.
The topic of psychological health was also addressed. Participants noted that the ability to cope with stress, maintain social connections, and seek help when needed are important components of well-being. Psycho-emotional state directly affects physical health and academic performance.
During the session, special attention was given to avoiding harmful habits. Students discussed that smoking, alcohol abuse, and a sedentary lifestyle negatively affect the body and can lead to serious illnesses. Making conscious choices in favor of healthy habits significantly improves quality of life.
The role of self-discipline and personal responsibility in forming a healthy lifestyle was emphasized. Students noted that regularity of actions is key to sustainable results. It is important not to strive for perfection immediately but to gradually introduce healthy habits into daily life: start with small changes in diet, increase physical activity, and pay more attention to sleep routines.
It was also highlighted that the university environment provides good opportunities to maintain a healthy lifestyle: participation in sports events, access to educational resources, and support from faculty and peers.
In conclusion, participants agreed that a healthy lifestyle is not a temporary measure but a long-term strategy aimed at preserving health and achieving life goals. Developing healthy habits during student years is an important step toward a successful future.
