“Farabi Sazy”: 29 Years of Creative Development of the Folk Instrumental Orchestra
The folk instrumental orchestra “Farabi Sazy” holds a special place in the cultural life of our university and has been making a significant contribution to the promotion of national art and the spiritual development of students for many years.
The main mission of the ensemble is to preserve and popularize national musical instruments, develop and promote Kazakh musical art, and foster the spiritual and cultural education of young people. In this direction, the orchestra continuously expands its repertoire, including Kazakh classical kyuis, folk songs, and works by contemporary composers.
The creative ensemble has achieved significant success not only at the university level but also on the national and international stage. The orchestra has performed in a number of countries, including Israel, China, India, Azerbaijan, Jordan, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and others, presenting Kazakh national music to the world at a high artistic level. These tours have greatly contributed to strengthening the university’s international reputation.
Since 2007, the kobyz and dombra clubs were led by Zita Abdildayevna Svanbayeva, and since 2019 she has served as the artistic director of the orchestra, significantly contributing to its continued artistic growth. Today, “Farabi Sazy” is a professionally established, creatively mature, and highly respected ensemble representing national musical heritage.
Today, as part of the 10th International Scientific Conference dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the distinguished scientist, Academician Tolegen Abdissagievich Kozhamskulov, and the 40th anniversary of his first doctoral dissertation in the USSR on lattice quantum chromodynamics, the “Farabi Sazy” orchestra took part in the official ceremony. The performance of traditional kyuis and folk compositions left a deep impression on both domestic and international guests, adding a special sense of solemnity and cultural richness to the event.
